MG B LE with Rubber Bumper Delete

The last iteration of the MG B with significant changes arrived in 1977. The dashboard was given a
modern facelift with more efficient controls for the lamps and climate controls. The pedal assembly
was positioned such that proper heel-and-to operation could be easily achieved while the steering
gear ratio was improved. These improvements made the MGB much more pleasant to drive, however
models from just a few years before had to compensate for new U.S. mandated regulations such as
emissions standards and bumper height restrictions. British-Leyland controlled MG knew the car
would not be sellable in the U.S. (it's leading market) in just a few years. To commemorate the final
production run for the 1979 and subsequent 1980 model years, the British-Leyland introduced a
commemorative model of the MG B Roadster. The Limited-Edition (LE) models were originally
supposed to be limited to 1000 units. This however was lifted due to high demand from the U.S. and
the home market of the U.K. Ultimately demand warranted the production of nearly 6700 units
before the final MG B Roadster rolled of the production line in October 1980. All Limited-Edition MG
B's featured black paintwork with Silver body stripes and are further noted by a dash plaque on the
glove box door.

This 1979 MG B is finished in Triple Black color combination of paint, interior and top. One of
approximately 6700 LE (Limited Edition) models built, this particular B was modified under previous
ownership to include Anthracite colored 14” MiniLite style wheels and color matched front and rear
bumper paneling. The iconic Limited-Edition Silver side stripes still remain, adding a level of
provenance to this tastefully modified British roadster. This MG B effectively offers the best of both
worlds with exterior styling cues reminiscent of the first iteration of the model with the mechanical
refinements of the later cars. The late B's, while lacking in appeal for many, are some of the best
driving sports cars of their era. An extremely well-sorted example, this MG B LE is an ideal driver that
